Winchester and Eastleigh Autistic Young Experts Panel - Session 2
On 3rd February three students from Osborne School attended the second meeting of the Winchester and Eastleigh Autistic Young Experts Panel. Jonathan, Shaun and Toby joined students from Crestwood, Thornden, Kings, Swanmore and Wyvern at the meeting at Pavilion on the Park in Eastleigh.
The afternoon started with a much appreciated pizza lunch. After this they were given the chance to get to know their fellow panel members through a short ice-breaker. Next, the panel members were asked to reflect on the changes that they had been able to effect in their schools so far and what else they had to do. The main focus for this meeting was to discuss what their schools could do to support autistic pupils to learn as effectively as possible. The pupils worked in groups to come up with ideas to take back and share with the senior leadership teams in school. In session one, the students created a film of ideas that were discussed during the first panel. That video is below.
Once again the Osborne pupils were a credit to our school. It was great to see them making friendships with young people from different schools and interacting in such a positive way.
