OsKings’ visit to Fairthorne Manor

On Wednesday 28th of January 2026, students of the Oskings’ provision went on a trip to the YMCA Fairthorne Manor in Southhampton.

There were 2 buses that came to pick us up, one driven by Heidi and the other by Stewart. We left the school at 9:30 and got there at 10:00. It took us time to park and get down but we did it!

When we were asssembled, two guides took us to the traing room to introduce themselves and get set up and then take us to the first activity which was a pioneering course.

We had to shoot tennis ballls out of a catapult and into a barrel. We all had fun! After that, we went inside to the training room and had lunch. Some of us stayed in whilst others went outside because it was sunny out there!

Half an hour later, and it was time for our second and last activity, and boy was it fun! But not before a group photo by the wall!

The guides took us deep down into the woods where we were going to make a fire. We first found some sticks which we then put in the middle of the soon-to be fire. Then we tried practicing using flint and steel to light the fire. Once we got the fire lit up, we enjoyed a good singsong before it was time to pack up and go back to the bus.

All in all, it was a lovely day and I’m pleased to say that we’ll be going on another trip next week! A big thank you to Heidi for organising and driving, and Stewart, who is fantastic.
