Sports Day 2025

On Thursday 19th June, Osborne School held its Annual Sports Day. As with every year, it was an exciting and joyous event, celebrating the spirit of inclusivity and athleticism amongst our students. The day was an extremely hot one, with temperatures reaching 29oC at some points during the day. However, the pupils, staff, parents, carers and visitors, all dealt with this really well and ensured the day still went ahead without any issues.

The day was filled with a variety of activities, tailored to meet the diverse abilities of all of our pupils. This meant that everyone had the opportunity to participate and of course, shine! The event kicked off with a vibrant opening ceremony where the whole school lined the walk way at the rear of the school. The Army School of Education, PRMAS, led by Potential Officer Jackson, then undertook a march down the ramp and then formed up. PO Jackson then addressed the whole school with an opening speech to launch the sports day. Her speech embodied everything about an Osborne School Sports Day as well as taking into account the other visitors we had on site during the day. It was a lovely moment that opened Sports Day in an extremely positive way and we were very grateful for this.

In the morning, we had our carousel of activities, where every class moved around and took part. The range of activities included target throwing games, archery, a football and rugby skills course, cricket and 2 Army stations which included an Assault Course and a Search and Destroy task. I would personally like to thank Danny Smith (Personal Best - Football), Michael Powell (Utilita Bowl - Cricket) and Neil Cornmell (Eastleigh Pirates Rugby Club) who all ran stations for our carousel in the morning. I would also like to thank Graeme Paterson and Janet Durham (Friends of Osborne School), for serving hot dogs, snacks and other items to our parents and pupils. Along with the cakes, biscuits and snacks in the Cafe, we think we have raised over £500 on the day!

In the afternoon, after our picnic style lunch on the field, we moved onto our races on the track. Every participant received a ribbon (1st, 2nd, 3rd or I'm a good sport) as well as a shiny medal, for taking part, kindly donated by Claire Powell (Big Feat Events). It ended with a very competitive Army race, as well as a parents/carers race. It was wonderful end to an amazing day.

Throughout the day, pupils were gaining points towards their house colours and the day concluded with the final scores and results, which were as follows:

4th Place - GREEN HOUSE (439pts)

3rd Place - YELLOW HOUSE (451pts)

2nd Place - BLUE HOUSE (457pts)

1st Place - RED HOUSE (515pts)

The Annual School Sports Day was not just about competition; it was a celebration of perseverance, resilience, team work, competition, co-operation, and the joy of movement. It was a day where every student was a winner, and the spirit of inclusivity shone brightly!

Thanks to everyone who helped make the day such a success.
