Rubik’s Cube performances - ‘All that I am’ event and Winchester Lights Switch on
On Tuesday the 11th and Thursday the 13th of November, the school band Rubik’s Cube struck again as they were lucky to perform at Samuel Cody School as part of their ‘All that I am’ event and opening the Winchester Christmas Lights Switch-on at the Winchester Guildhall.
For our first show to Samuel Cody School, we went on the minibus and in the pool car that Ben drove. We first drove to Osborne School to pick up those students and then we were on our way on a 45-minute drive. When we got there at 11:00, we signed in at reception and then got our seats.
We had to wait 3 hours before we were due to perform so what better time to spare than to watch the other acts.
We saw a wide variety of schools, including a wheelchair dance which was very mesmerizing, and a 15-year female soloist who I think sang beautifully.
After a half-hour lunch break, it was the moment we were all patiently waiting for, the chance to perform. We got ourselves onto the ramp which they had at the side of the stage and on we went. We only had a 5-minute set, which was worth it because I wanted to see the rest of the performances.
The songs we sang on stage were as follows: Golden from K-pop Demon Hunters, Radio Ga Ga and I want to break free by Queen.
After the set, the crowd went wild and we felt pride in our bones, because as they say, pride comes before the fall.
Then came Thursday, where we were set to open the Winchester Christmas Lights Switch-On. As always, the event was held at the Winchester Guildhall. We performed our Samuel Cody set with 3 additional songs: Bohemian Rhapsody, You’re my Best Friend and Merry Xmas Everybody. It was a huge success and the crowd went wild.
They were 2 very brilliant events and the leader, Ben Dlugokecki, spoke to us on Friday. “Two great shows that brought the house down. I’m very proud of what you all achieved and hope we emulate this success next year” said a very happy Ben.
We’ll see if we can indeed emulate this success wherever we perform next in the future.
One of the group’s members, Liam Bishop said that if he’d have to, he’d happily bring along his Rubik’s Cube to wow the crowd all the time.
So to conclude, it seems that Rubik’s Cube really do rock!
