Class 10.1 Visit to Winchester Military Museums
Class 10.1 recently enjoyed an educational trip to the military museums in Winchester, where students explored history through a range of engaging exhibits and activities.
One of the highlights of the day was visiting the Gurkha Museum, where the volunteers were extremely friendly, welcoming, and engaging with our pupils. Students were fascinated by the artefacts on display and enjoyed learning about the history and achievements of the Gurkhas through hands-on discussions and storytelling.
The trip also gave students the opportunity to learn about Florence Nightingale and the important role of medicine and healthcare during wartime. Pupils discovered how medical treatment has changed over time and gained insight into the challenges faced by nurses and doctors caring for injured soldiers.
Another memorable part of the visit focused on the animals involved in the Charge of the Light Brigade. Students learned about the important role horses played during battle and the care they required, linking history with animal welfare and responsibility.
Throughout the day, Class 10.1 represented Osborne School brilliantly, showing curiosity. The trip was a fantastic opportunity to bring history to life and deepen students’ understanding through real-world experiences.
