Winchester and Eastleigh Autistic Young Experts Panel - Session 3
On 29th September five students from Osborne School attended the third meeting of the Winchester and Eastleigh Autistic Young Experts Panel. Shaun, Kayden, Jacob, Danny and Reilly joined students from Crestwood, Thornden, Kings, Toynbee and Wyvern at the meeting at Pavilion on the Park in Eastleigh.
The afternoon started with our traditional pizza lunch. After this the students took part in the ‘human bingo’ ice-breaker activity. This gave them the opportunity to meet other members of the panel in a fun way. Next, the panel members were asked to reflect on the changes that they had been able to effect in their schools so far and what else they had to do. The final activity was an opportunity to work in a group to discuss what qualities they thought made someone a great teacher of autistic students. The students completed this task very sensibly and with great insight. The students hope to share their ideas with Osborne staff.
As always the Osborne pupils were a credit to our school. It was great to see them making friendships with young people from different schools and sharing their ideas sensibly.
